Nahid de Belgeonne

When did you start doing what you are doing?
I set up Good Vibes from scratch 4 years ago – we will be 4 on 26th October 2010

My background is fashion but I’ve been keeping fit all my life . I had a go on the Power Plate 5 years ago totally got what a amazing piece of equipment it was, retrained, wrote a business plan and opened up 3 studios in one year. Good Vibes was the first independent Power Plate studio in the UK.

Who is your mentor and why?
David Pearl, a self made man who really enjoys seeing other people realise their dreams. He has a boyish, mischievous sense of humour which i adore!

Describe a typical day?
A short yoga routine, then hopping around on one foot, half dressed, eating my breakfast and answering emails and then a walk/bus or tube to work depending on how I am feeling /weather/lateness
Marketing meeting, followed by a Power Plate class, I teach a few Yoga one to ones and Power Plate classes, planning PR, affiliate meetings, planning yoga studio meetings, answering emails, managing social media, networking, cycling to the other studios, meeting friends or husband for dinner or going to see a film or a longer yoga session, meditate, go to bed.

Any mistakes along the way?
Loads! But it’s the best way to learn, luckily I can turn things around quite quickly if it doesn’t work.

What aspect of your work do you most enjoy?
The people – I love the Good Vibes community from the great team, to the clients many of whom who have become friends, keeping fit effortlessly everyday is great and being in the centre of town means everyday is an exciting new adventure.

What advice do you give to budding business women?
Trust your gut instinct, work with people you like, don’t adopt a “work” persona because you feel you have to, just be authentic and remember to enjoy being your own boss.

What's your dream and how close are you?
To extend the brand - I’ll be opening a yoga studio next year – so the dream goes on!

Where do you live?
Ravenscourt Park ...but just!

Favourite place locally, and further afield?
Indian Zing is my local Indian on the next block and is a Fay Maschler favourite. I love Ravenscourt Park and the river walk from my flat to Barnes is a good way to unwind. I’m usually always in town so love Morro, Hakkasan and Yautcha, the Curzon Soho, Shoreditch House and the Barbican.

Describe your working wardrobe?
American Apparell or sass and bide leggings, a sonia or anna sui top and very high heels (current favoruites appair of perspex heels by Charlotte Dellal – I have to run from teaching to meetings and HATE sports wear so I always have something on that I can very easily adapt.

" After just three sessions in one week, I've lost 2lbs and I can really see improvement in the muscle tone on my arms and legs..it works!
